The monitoring of pests and diseases is a fundamental step in the efficient management of a modern farm. To this end, GisUp has been selected as a reality for the development of an appropriate tool for the analysis and identification of the presence of harmful insects within olive trees. The activity carried out by GisUp can be divided into two: development of the recognition algorithm and creation of a dashboard for the management of all the data collected.
Regarding the first phase, that is the development of the recognition algorithm, GisUp and IpaUp have dealt with identifying the best procedure to be able to discriminate the presence of the fly from other insects possibly present on the SpyFly trap. For this reason, algorithms have been elaborated based on OpenCV library using languages such as Python and C++. These languages are compliant with the operating systems on board the SBCs to be used in the field for image acquisition and analysis. These algorithms have been written with a logic devoted to the use of machine learning architecture.
To improve the interaction between the system and the end user, a web-application (Smart-HUB) was developed according to the customer's requests, able to collect all the data coming from the various control units installed inside the fields, they are traps or sensors of various kinds, storing them in a database, processing them and finally making them usable according to different types to the end user.
